Road Tax

From 1 October motorists in the UK will no longer be required to display a paper tax disc on their vehicle's windscreen.

The elimination of the traditional tax disc means vehicle owners will no longer be required by law to display a tax disc, instead paying for their vehicle tax electronically. The driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will hold a digital record of taxed or untaxed vehicles, and drivers will still receive a reminder letter through the post when their vehicle's tax is due to expire.

Janice Howes, General Manager at Chambers Tamworth, commented: “For some time we have been helping visitors to our Lichfield Road Mazda dealership to understand how the October changes to tax discs will affect them. To drive or keep a vehicle on the road you will still need to pay vehicle tax – after 1 October drivers can remove their tax disc from display, or wait until it expires."

Nigel Howes, Managing Director added: “When drivers purchase a new vehicle they will need to get it taxed before they can use it, as tax is no longer transferable. Anyone selling a vehicle will automatically get a refund for any full calendar months left on the vehicle's schedule."

The Tamworth showroom holds the full range of Mazda and Hyundai vehicles, including the brand's latest generation models – Mazda6, the Mazda MX-5 sports car, all-new Mazda3, Hyundai i30, Hyundai i20, Hyundai ix35, Hyundai Santa Fe and New Generation Hyundai i10.

The Sutton Coldfield showroom has the full range of Ford vehicles, including award winning Ford Fiesta, Ford Fiesta ST, Ford Kuga, Ford Ka, Ford Focus and the newest member of the Ford family Ford Ecosport.
